Igali-ama FC Wins Sangana Kingdom Federated Communities Football Tourney

As Winners Emerge in Marathon Race ‎ ‎Igali-ama FC have been crowned champions of the Sangana Kingdom Federated Communities Football Tournament among communities in the Kingdom in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.  ‎ ‎Igala-ama FC dethroned the defending champions, Ohiomo-ama FC to lift the trophy sponsored by the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prosperity Cup Organisers Condole Ewhrudjakpo Family

Organisers of the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament have described the demise of the Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, as a rude shock that is difficult to come to terms with. The organizers of the football tournament, also known as the Prosperity Cup, stated this when a team, led by its Deputy Director General, Elder Perela Aboro paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family at the residence of Mr Christopher Ewhrudjakpo, elder brother of the late Deputy Governor. Former Director of Sports, Wodi, Advocates Unified Reward System for Athletes

The immediate-past Director of Sports, Bayelsa State Sports Council, Sir Braveman Wodi has advocated a unified reward system for athletes in the country. Sir Wodi gave the charge while speaking at a public lecture organized to celebrate a sports administrator, Ambassador Miebi Ogunu's 50 impactful years of grassroots sports development in Nigeria, held at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, at Ekeki in Yenagoa. Wodi, who is the South-South Representative on the Board of the Nigeria Canoeing Federation, argued that there is a big gap in the inconsistent reward regime of athletes, added that whether or not the deserving athlete, coach and other officials get any reward at all and the amount of the reward the athlete gets, are at the whims of the benefactor. The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Bayelsa State Chapter, has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. The association described Thursday as a black day for Bayelsa State following reports that the Deputy Governor collapsed in his office and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, where he was later confirmed dead. Bayelsa is set to have more products of the Governor's Football Tournament ply their trade with Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs and even outside the shores of the country. This followed a disclosure by the lead scout of an international scouting programme which got underway in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. The international scouting programme for youths in the state, is put together by the organizers of the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament, tagged the Prosperity Cup, in collaboration with the State Ministry of Sports Development as well as the Football Association. Niger Delta Sports Festival Organizers Announce Commencement of Registration‎

‎The organizers of the Niger Delta Sports Festival have announced the commencement for the registration of athletes for the 2nd edition of the  games slated for ‎Benin City, the Edo State capital.  ‎ ‎Bayelsa State defeated perennial rivals, Delta to emerge champions of the inaugural edition of the festival held at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. ‎ ‎This was disclosed by the Director of Operations, Mr. Fred Edoreh in a meeting with states' liaison secretaries and Directors of Sports of the various participating states.  ‎ ‎According to him, registration of the athletes will commence from Thursday 11th December, 2025 through the 10th of January, and states are advised to adhere strictly to the guidelines of the registration for the games.  ‎ ‎He noted that the technical support for the registration would be sent to the respective states, pointing out that this year's fiesta would witness a tremendous improvement over the previous edition in Akwa Ibom State.
