CLINTON THOMPSON CUP: ROYAL FM BATTLES RHYTHM ON OPENING DAY


The draws for the Clinton Thompson Cup for media houses and chapels in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State have been held with Royal FM 95.5 drawn in a make or mar encounter with their foes, Rhythm FM 94.7.

The fixture to be played tomorrow, Tuesday at 9:40am will surely light up the matchday one fixture of the tournament, with Royal FM hoping to take their "Pound of Flesh", after Rhythm FM knocked them out of the competition last year.

The curtain raiser will see Bayelsa State News Paper Corporation, (New Waves) tackle the Ministry of Information at 9am, while the third game will be between Glory FM 97.1 and Finecountry David-led Peoples FM 93.1 at 10:30am.

On Wednesday, 3rd December, winners between New Waves and the Ministry of Information will face last year's finalist, Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Niger Delta Television (NDTV) will lock horns with United Correspondent Chapel in the second game, winners between Royal FM and Rhythm FM will play Daar Communications PLC in the third game, while the last match will see Federated Correspondent Chapel (FCC) encounter the winners between Glory FM 97.1 and Peoples FM 93.1.

All games will be played at Hamilton Gardens, Azikoro road, Yenagoa.

Secretary of the state Football Association, Mr Diseye Nwakwe, who conducted the draws, urged all chapels to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship, and wished all participating teams well.

Chairman, Bayelsa SWAN Week committee expressed his gratitude to Mr Nwakwe Diseye for a job well done, said the Clinton Thompson Cup has come to stay, and will remain an avenue to celebrate and unite media houses in Bayelsa state.

With the conclusion of the draws.... Let the games begin!!!
