Chief Hon. Samuel Michael Bunas, the NDC candidate for Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Yenagoa Constituency 1, has officially declared his intention to contest the seat and solicited the support of the people of Agudama-Epie.
Bunas made the declaration on Sunday when he visited his in-laws and stakeholders in Agudama-Epie community. Addressing the gathering, he said Agudama-Epie remains his home and an integral part of his political journey.

The Assembly hopeful noted that while he hails from Onopa, he cannot achieve victory with Onopa votes alone, hence the need for a broad alliance with Agudama-Epie and the entire Epie/Atissa clan. "I cannot do it alone. Onopa alone cannot vote me into the House of Assembly. I need your votes. I am appealing to Agudama-Epie to stand with me and vote for me," he appealed.

Bunas assured the people that his aspiration is driven by service and not personal enrichment. "I promise not to disappoint you. I am coming out to work, not to look for money," he stated.

He lamented the loss of key development institutions from the Epie/Atissa axis, recalling the impact of the former Bayelsa State College of Arts and Science (BYCAS) when it was sited in Agudama-Epie. "When BYCAS was in Agudama-Epie, there was development from Agudama down to Yenagoa, but they removed BYCAS. At this moment, Bayelsa Medical University has also been taken away from us," he said.

Bunas said Yenagoa Constituency 1 needs a strong voice at the State House of Assembly who can protect the interest of the clan. "We need someone who can talk and protect Epie/Atissa at the State Assembly. I can talk to protect the clan. If given the opportunity, I will make laws for the clan and do something for the clan," he promised.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the community also called for the postponement of the election for at least three weeks to mourn the late Chairman of the OWU Caretaker Committee, Dr. Emeka Okengwu, who died on 9th May, 2026 while serving the clan. The communiqué alleged that the Secretary of the current OWU Caretaker Committee unlawfully issued a fresh nomination form to one of the aspirants, Ekejiuba Ekpo, despit...

This exciting tournament brings together talented kids aged 5-10 from various football academies in Bayelsa State, including host Yenagoa City Football Academy, Dominion City FA, Kingdom Stars FA, Stardom Life FA, and Okiki Musampa Football Academy. The Easter Kids Cup is more than just a tournament - it's a platform for young dreams to take flight. We've seen it happen before: kids who started small, worked hard, and rose to stardom. Think Victor Osimhen, who played for the Nigerian national team and now stars for Napoli FC; or Kelechi Iheanacho, who began his journey with the Nigerian youth team and now plays for Leicester City. These young players had their big breaks, and who knows - maybe tomorrow's stars are among us! "Early learning will help the kids grow with confidence," says Coach Ada Gwegwe, Coordina...
