From Celebration to Community Impact: Ayibatonye Suowari kemike Empowers Bayelsa Youths on His Birthday
By Francis Joseph
As part of activities marking his birthday today, Ayibatonye Suowari Ikemike on Friday 13th February, 2026 reached out to communities across Bayelsa State with meaningful empowerment items aimed at boosting small businesses and encouraging self-reliance.
Rather than hosting an elaborate celebration, he chose to share his special day with the people by investing in tools that will create opportunities and support livelihoods across the eight local government areas of Bayelsa State.
In Southern Ijaw and Sagbama, sewing machines were presented to support tailoring businesses and help beneficiaries expand their craft. In Kolga, a laptop was donated to enhance digital skills and create opportunities in technology and online enterprise. Ogbia and Nembe each received nail technician starter packs, equipping young entrepreneurs with the tools needed to begin or strengthen their beauty businesses.
Yenagoa Local Government Area benefited from multiple empowerment items, including a miter saw, a manual weaving machine, and a bench grinder for shoe production. These tools are expected to support artisans and small-scale manufacturers, encouraging productivity and skill development within the state capital. In Brass, catering pots were distributed to assist food vendors and caterers in growing their businesses.
Meanwhile, in Ekeremor, a catering mixer and oven were donated to help beneficiaries improve their baking and catering services. Each item was carefully selected to align with practical skills and income-generating ventures that are sustainable within the local communities.
Speaking during the outreach, Ayibatonye Ikemike emphasized that his birthday was an opportunity to give back and make a positive impact. He noted that true celebration lies in uplifting others and creating pathways for economic growth. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that will strengthen their businesses and inspire others across Bayelsa State.
