Bomo Clan Unity Tournament: Hon. Charles Ebite Backs Grassroots Football in Southern Ijaw.
The Bomo Clan Unity Football Tournament in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has received a significant boost following the generous sponsorship of Hon. Charles Ebite.
In a move widely applauded by stakeholders, the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area Political Secretary reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment and sports development at the grassroots, noting that investing in community football remains one of the most effective ways to engage young people positively and promote unity across the Bomo Clan.
As part of the support package, customised sets of jerseys and footballs were officially presented to the 18 registered clubs participating in the competition.
Hon. Ebite also announced attractive prize money for the tournament.
The eventual winners will go home with ₦1.5 million, while the second-place team will receive ₦1 million, and the third-place finishers will be rewarded with ₦500,000.
Speaking at Peremabowei community, Dr. Ebiki Timitimi, immediate past Chairman of Bayelsa United Football Club, commended the sponsor for his unwavering commitment to youth and sports development at the grassroots.
He described the tournament as a bold and commendable initiative capable of discovering hidden talents and fostering unity within the clan.
Dr. Timitimi also charged participating teams to maintain discipline throughout the competition and called on well-meaning individuals and stakeholders to emulate Hon. Ebite’s support for community-based sporting programmes.
In the same vein, Coach Agazi from Ekowei community expressed appreciation to the sponsor for what he described as a magnificent intervention. He noted that the provision of quality balls and jerseys would greatly motivate the teams and improve the standard of play in the tournament.
The Bomo Clan Unity Football Tournament is expected to further strengthen community ties while providing a veritable platform for young footballers in Southern Ijaw to showcase their talents.
