Bayelsa Pre-season Football Tournament: ‎Semi Final Fixtures Completed


Host, Bayelsa United and Bayelsa United U-20 have qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing Bayelsa Pre-season Football Tournament in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. 
‎The Bayelsa Pre-season Football Tournament enters day three with interesting fixtures after a one day break in the tournament which is designed to prepare Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL teams in shape ahead of the new season.
‎Bayelsa United U-20 in the first match of the day defeated Prosperity Cup champions Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC by three goals to two to secure their first win of the tournament having lost three nil to Warri Wolves in the opening fixture. 
‎A brace from Kelvin Emmanuel in the opening minute of the game and 28 minute as well as Fuluwa Akpokabowei popularly known as Solohit gave Bayelsa United U-20 a three nil lead in the first half but the Prosperity Cup champions responded in the second half but their effort was not enough for the church boys to secure a point.
‎Bayelsa United in the last match of the day pipped newly-promoted Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri by a lone goal. Wisdom Magbisa's 9th minute strike was all the "Prosperity Boys" needed to move to the semi finals.
‎Warri Wolves leads group "A" with six points after two games while Bayelsa United are on three points. Bendel Insurance who look impeccable occupied the top spot in group "B" on six points with same number of games played. 
‎The semi-final pairings will see Bendel Insurance up against Bayelsa United U-20 by 1.00pm on Friday 15th August, 2025 ‎while Bayelsa United will take on Warri Wolves at 3.00pm at the Samson Siasia Stadium with the grand finale coming up Saturday, August 16, 2025. 
‎Bayelsa United Head Coach, Meremu Okara in his post-match reaction, said the team is progressing with each game and that the performance of the team was better than the encounter against Bendel Insurance.
‎Also, Kun Khalifat coach, Obinna Uzoho, said he was pleased with the performance of his team, stating that the lads have improved compared to their opening fixture in the tournament.
