Famgbe FC of Famgbe kept their hopes of winning the 2024/2025 Bayelsa State Football Association League alive with a narrow 2-1 victory over Kingdom Stars FA in group A after matchday three of the ongoing tournament designated in three different centres.
Famgbe FC beat youthful Kingdom Stars FA at the Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, BDGS centre, returning to winning ways after testing defeat in matchday Two against Foundation FC of Yenagoa.
In the other group A encounter Creek FC whitewashed Betters FC four-nil to maintain top spot.
Rich Destiny FC in group C had their destiny in their hands to rewrite their story in the competition with a comfortable 3-1 triumph over the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC FC at the Kpansia centre. Genesis FC defeated Stardom Light FC by three goals to two in the other group tie to push for the top spot.
However, Seaside FC in the last fixture pipped AJ Inter Soccer Academy by two goals to one to maintain first position in group C.
Defending champions, Advance Dreams FA in group B were held to a one-all draw by disciplined Bayelsa FA with Ayibaiye Timothy claiming the man of the match award for an excellent performance while De Rhema FC humbled Kolombia FC by three nill. The victory leaves De Rhema FC on four points.
Movers FC of Otuasega, who looked impeccable in group D confirmed their supremacy in the group with a 2-1 win over Victory Vault FC of Opume with Miracle Nathaniel scoring a brace at the Imiringi Township Stadium.
The hopes of Hope Alive FC of Otuoke, qualifying for the quarter final was dashed as they lost 3-1 to Emeyal 2 United, just as Light FC of Otuoke pipped Metros by a lone goal as the battle for the second position in the group gets tougher.
The last group B matches decided on Sunday at the Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, BDGS centre saw Foundation FC sharing the spoils with Saturday FC while Glitch Sports Club beat United FC by two goals to one to claim the first position in group A with seven points.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Football Association, Barr. Poubeni Ogun has commended the various participating teams for their show of professionalism so far in the tournament after matchday three.
Ogun, who noted that he was pleased with the conduct of the various teams in the competition so far, urged them to abide by the rules and regulations of the tournament. He described this year's edition as spectacular, particularly regarding the quality of football displayed by the teams.
Action will return in week four of the ongoing Bayelsa State Football Association League across the four designated centres in the state.
