Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu) Bags 'Pillar of the Youth' Award

Encomiums and accolades have continued to pour in for renowned businessman and Chairman of Don Media Group, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe ( Don Lulu), in recognition of his enduring contributions to community and youth development.
On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the youths of Ohuhu-Umuahia, led by their Youth President, Chief Uchenna Gavin Iheanacho, conferred on Mayor Igbokwe the prestigious Pillar of the Youth Award. Speaking during the presentation, the youths stated that the award—also known as the Ikoro Award—was in appreciation of his outstanding efforts towards the advancement of Ohuhuland.
They noted that Mayor Igbokwe is the pioneer founder of the first-ever radio stations in Ohuhuland—Ikoro 93.3 FM and Don 103.7 FM. Beyond media development, he has remained a staunch supporter of youth empowerment through various initiatives, including scholarships, construction of houses for indigent youths, provision of business grants, and sponsorship of sports activities, among others.
In the same spirit, the youths also presented an honorary award to Afrobeat star David Adeleke (Davido), through Mayor Igbokwe, in recognition of his instrumental role in revitalizing the musical career of Nigeria’s highlife legend and Ohuhu-born artiste, Bright Chimezie. They noted that the award was originally scheduled to be presented during Mayor Igbokwe's birthday concert but had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. They appealed to the media entrepreneur to kindly deliver the award to Davido on their behalf.

In his response, Mayor Igbokwe expressed heartfelt appreciation to the youths for the honour bestowed on him. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to supporting youth initiatives and contributing to the development of Ohuhuland. He also assured the delegation that the well-deserved award for Davido would be personally delivered.
