BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY: BAYELSA SWAN CELEBRATES WITH SPORTS COMMISSIONER

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Bayelsa chapter has joined other well-meaning individuals and stakeholders in the sports sector to eulogise the Bayelsa State Sports Development Commissioner, Hon. Daniel Igali.

A statement by the Chairman and Secretary of SWAN, Comrade Mrs Timinepre Ohia and Mr Patrick Ndubuisi respectively describe the former National, African, Olympic and World wrestling champion as a workaholic and dogged personality, who has made a name in the sports sector.

The statement says Hon, Champion Igali, as he his fondly called, did not only conquer the world as an athlete but  as an administrator, urging others to emulate his proactive mindset and dedication to service.

It also notes that as President of the Nigerian Wrestling Federation, the 2000 Sydney Olympic gold medallist has set an indelible mark by churning out medals across various national, continental and world championships, stressing that a big shoe awaits whoever takes over from him should he leave the stage sooner or later.

The Sports Writers equally congratulate Hon Daniel Igali on his recent emergence as the Chairman, Niger Delta Commissioners Forum, an honour bestowed on him at the weekend in Porthacourt, Rivers State, ahead of the Niger Delta Sports Festival.

It expresses confidence in the ability of the Sports Commissioner to deliver at the Festival, following his success at previous engagements or assignments he has handled in the past.

While wishing him a monumental and fun filled birthday celebration, the sports promoters pray God to give him more wisdom, strength, good health and more vision to pilot the affairs accorded to him, as well as his future endeavors.

There is No Division in Umuyota, An Eze-Elect Has Emerged; Leaders of Umuyota Community Says; Warns Imposters

The People of Umuyota Autonomous Community in Umuawa-Alaocha, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA has reacted to a press release purportedly signed by one imposter named Chikamara Metuh. In a press release signed by Mr. Bright Udeh the Youth President of the Umuokarafor Community, the community where both Mr. Adimchinobi Abraham and High Chief Sonny Uwakwe Nlewedim hails from has advised  members of the public to disregard the so-called press release trying to present the emergence of Chief Sonny Nlewedim as the Eze-Elect of Umuyota Autonomous Community in dispute. According to Mr Udeh "I am the youth president of Umuokarafor, who was unanimously elected by the entire youths of Umuokarafor, Mr. Chikamara Metuh, is not a youth president, nor an executive in Umuokarafor or Umuyota".
