Samkay, Bayelsa Ministry of Education hold one-day athletics meet in Yenagoa

Over 200 young athletes from more than 25 secondary schools in Bayelsa State are to participate in the forthcoming athletics meet being organised by Samkay Athletics Club in Yenagoa.

The One-Day athletics meet in collaboration with the Bayelsa state Ministry of Education and the Bayelsa State Athletics Association will hold at the main bowl of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Ovom on Monday, 27th January, 2025 by 8am.

In a statement by the Secretary of Samkay Athletics Club, Priye Robert and Bayelsa State Coordinator of Schools Sports in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Education, Mr. Godwin Adagbo, invitation has been extended to selected public and private schools across the 8 Local Government Areas of the state.

The events lined up for the day include 100Metres, 400Metres and 800Metres for boys and girls with different prizes up for grabs.

This annual competition in its 4th edition is to discover young and budding talents in track and field events and nurture them to greatness.

The People of Umuyota Autonomous Community in Umuawa-Alaocha, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA has reacted to a press release purportedly signed by one imposter named Chikamara Metuh. In a press release signed by Mr. Bright Udeh the Youth President of the Umuokarafor Community, the community where both Mr. Adimchinobi Abraham and High Chief Sonny Uwakwe Nlewedim hails from has advised  members of the public to disregard the so-called press release trying to present the emergence of Chief Sonny Nlewedim as the Eze-Elect of Umuyota Autonomous Community in dispute.
