Sports Festival: Bayelsa holds athletics trials on Tuesday

The Bayelsa State Athletics Association has concluded arrangements to hold a one-day trial for athletes that will represent the state in various track and field events at the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The open trial will hold on Tuesday, 10th December, 2024 inside the main bowl of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Ovom, Yenagoa from 8am to 6pm.

Athletes will compete in the 100metres, 400metres, 800metres, Long Jump and Javelin events.

A statement by the Secretary of the State Athletics Association, Tariye Jackson Bidei, indicates that there would be morning and evening sessions to cover for the preliminary rounds and the finals.

The statement invites lovers of athletics and sports in general to come cheer up the competing athletes.

Guests expected on the occasion include the Commissioner for Sports Development, Chief Daniel Igali, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Alagoa, and the Director of Sports, Bayelsa State Sports Council, Sir. Braveman Wodi.
