Olympic Silver medalist Blessing Oborududu has commended the organizers of the Gov Douye Diri Wrestling Classic Competition for their outstanding work in hosting the event's third edition in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, highlighting their dedication to nurturing athletic talent and contributing to the growth of sports development in Bayelsa State.

In an exclusive interview with Sport Tribe Podcast Crew, 14-times national wrestling champion and 2-times commonwealth gold medalist expressed her enthusiasm and admiration for the meticulous preparations undertaken by the organizers of the upcoming competition. 

Oborududu also used the opportunity to expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Governor Douye Diri for making the Gov. Diri National Wrestling Classics possible. This prestigious tournament has provided a platform for athletes to showcase their talents and skills on the mat, and Blessing is thrilled to be a part of it.

Assessing the readiness of Bayelsa State wrestlers ahead of the National Wrestling Classics, the Olympic bronze medalist Blessing Oborududu expressed utmost confidence in the team's preparedness. She emphasized that the athletes have undergone an extensive period of rigorous training, meticulously honing their skills and building their strength and are ready to make the state proud.

The 12th time african wrestling champion also announced that she won't be competing in this year's wrestling classics. Instead, she's shifting her focus to nurturing the next generation of wrestling talents through her wrestling club.

The 3rd edition of the prestigious Gov. Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics is set to kick off from November 3rd to 10th, 2024, at the indoor hall of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The 3rd edition of the Gov. Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics is anticipated to draw a large contingent of participants, with over 800 athletes and officials expected to take part. The tournament will comprise three distinct weight categories: Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Cadet, providing a comprehensive competition experience for wrestlers of all levels.
