Gagede Tamaramiebi and Clement Lucky emerges fastest Girl and Boy in the just concluded Samkay Athletics Club One Day Event for Secondary School Students

The Samkay Athletics Club on Monday 2nd September, 2024 organized a meet where Secondary School Students in Bayelsa State participated in various events such as the 100 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, and Long Jump for both boys and girls. The competitions were highly competitive in all categories. Gagede Tamaramiebi emerged as the fastest girl in the 100 meters race, while Clement Lucky won the Boys 100 meters race. 
Teibowei Samson had the best time in the Boys 400 meters, and Vivian Obi came first in the Girls 400 meters. Martha Jacob won the Girls 800 meters, and Samson Teibowei won the Boys 800 meters. The Bayelsa Athletics Association also selected a team for the National Youth Games.

Ikadei Ebikiemo won the Boys Long Jump event with a leap of 6.33 meters, surpassing Nathan Mekioniso's 6.15 meters and Caleb Dorgie's 5.82 meters. The top three performers were awarded cash prizes, with the winners receiving N20,000 each, the runners-up receiving N15,000 each, and the third-place athletes receiving N10,000 each. 
Dr. Kolawole Oredipe, the Founder and CEO of the Samkay Athletics Club, expressed satisfaction with the participation of Secondary School Students and the talent displayed by the young athletes. He believes that these athletes will dominate track and field events in the country, Africa, and the world in the nearest future.

 The Director of the State's Sports Council Mr. Andrew Aye advised the athletes and emphasized that their ambition is what will guide them to achieve greater success.

The State Athletics Association is using the third edition of the one-day Samkay Athletics Meet for Secondary Schools, in collaboration with the Bayelsa State Athletics Association, to identify and select young talents to represent the State at the upcoming National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, starting from September 9, 2024.

The athletes received training from the expertise of Mr. Terimoh Maurice, the Technical Director of Samkay Athletics and a well-known former marathon athlete, as well as Coach Pius Bazighe, the Head of Athletics in the Bayelsa State Sports Council and a former African Javelin Champion, and Coach Richard Torugbene.
