Mayor Ikeji Flags off 2nd Batch of Skill Acquisition Training in Umuahia North

With over two thousand applications, the Umuahia North council painstakingly chose one hundred and fifty six persons through a transparent process for the second batch of skill acquisition and ICT/digital training. 
The Mayor of Umuahia North LGA, Hon. High-Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D (Kpakpando-Umuahia), while flagging off the skill acquisition program said he adopted the policy of ensuring that the program is an all-expenses paid skill acquisition for the teeming youths in the council.

He said that considering the bitting economic condition and the absence of white collar jobs, acquiring a skill is the best way out of poverty.
He assured the 156 trainees in this batch, that the council has fully paid for the program. He further promised to provide starter packs to the outstanding and dedicated trainees in the different skill sets.

Mayor Ikeji also thanked the executive governor, Dr. Alex Otti OFR, for providing the enablement for the Mayors to affect the lives of their people positively.

Also speaking at the event, the Deputy speaker of the Abia State house of assembly, Hon. Austin Okezie Meregini applauded the Mayor for the good work he has been doing in the council.
According to the Deputy speaker, the best gift that can be given to anyone presently is a good skill. He said, nothing pays better than entrepreneurship. 

The Deputy-Speaker further adduced that, no paid Job can give you the level of financial stability like a good skill or entrepreneurship.

He urged the 156 selected youths to take their training seriously as he reminded them that, what the Mayor has done is to invest in their future, therefore it is up to them to decide what to do with the God given opportunity.

The  156  selected youths will be trained in different skill sets, which include; Computer Hardware Repair & Networking, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Cake Making & Baking, Welding, and Event Planning and Decoration. 

Apart from the deputy speaker, other dignitaries that attended the event include; HRH Eze Charles Ngwuli, HRH Eze Abel Ogbonna, The SSA to the governor on Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, Hon. Magdalene Egondu Ugoanusi, the Special Adviser to the Governor On Easy of Doing Business, Barr. Agbonma Jenifer Ukaobasi, the Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Mrs. Edith Ihuoma Ifenyiwa, the Acting Head of Service, ESV. Onugu Okechukwu Mba, Chief of Staff to the Mayor, Prince Goodluck Ohazuruike, the Special Adviser to the Mayor on Revenue and Policy Formulation, Hon. Chimex Nelcinn Uluocha amongst other aides and top council management staff.

The People of Umuyota Autonomous Community in Umuawa-Alaocha, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA has reacted to a press release purportedly signed by one imposter named Chikamara Metuh. In a press release signed by Mr. Bright Udeh the Youth President of the Umuokarafor Community, the community where both Mr. Adimchinobi Abraham and High Chief Sonny Uwakwe Nlewedim hails from has advised  members of the public to disregard the so-called press release trying to present the emergence of Chief Sonny Nlewedim as the Eze-Elect of Umuyota Autonomous Community in dispute. According to Mr Udeh "I am the youth president of Umuokarafor, who was unanimously elected by the entire youths of Umuokarafor, Mr. Chikamara Metuh, is not a youth president, nor an executive in Umuokarafor or Umuyota".
