Court Affirms Sakwe As Umuyota Eze -Elect; Fines Adimchinobi Abraham


An Abia State High Court sitting in Umuahia, the state capital, on Thursday, July 19th, 2024  stroke out a motion brought before it by Mr. Adimchinobi Abraham seeking to stop Chief Sonny Nlewedim from parading himself as the Eze-Elect of Umuyota Autonomous Community.

The judge in his ruling struck out the motion and affirmed Chief Sonny Nlewedim as the Eze-Elect of Umuyota Autonomous Community.
The court also refused to grant the motion from the counsel to the plaintiff, Mr. Adimchinobi Abraham seeking to stop the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti OFR from giving Chief Nlewedim staff of office as the substantiative Eze of Umuyota Autonomous Community.
The judge in his ruling also fined Mr. Abraham the sum of #10,000 and warned him not to disturb the peace of the Umuyota Community henceforth.

The jubilant people of the Umuyota community which includes the four village heads of the four communities, youths, men, and women, thanked the judiciary for upholding the wish of the people.

They advised Mr. Adimchi to stop wasting money and rather deplore the money his wasting chasing clout to contribute to the development of the community.

They stated that the people of Umuyota have made their choice, and even the court has affirmed it.


The people further called on the governor of the state, Dr. Alex Otti to quickly present a staff of office to Chief Sonny Nlewedim ( Sakwe), the people's choice who was rightfully chosen in line with the constitution of Umuyota.

They warned Mr. Adimchinobi Abraham to desist from renting crowds who are Indigenes of Umuyota to deceive gullible unaware members of the community.

The jubilant crowd asserted that Umuyota is united and strongly behind Chief Nlewedim and no amount of blackmail and grandstanding could change their collective decision.
