Bekewei Brothers Delight As Ogboinbiri FC Cruise Past Nembe FC To Win 2024 Prosperity Cup

The 2024 Bayelsa Governor's Cup tagged the Prosperity Cup came to an end on Saturday 20th July at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa Bayelsa State.

With a mammoth crowd cheering both teams at the Samson Siasia Stadium it was the Bekewei Brothers who stole the show as Ogboinbiri FC defeated Nembe FC by 3-0 to clinch the 6th edition of the 2024 Prosperity Cup.
The game which began with both sides seizing up each other at the early exchanges came to life after Bekewei Ebi amazing neat foot work and cross from the by-line found his brother Paul Bekewei in the 22nd minutes who headed home to give Ogboinbiri the lead.

With Nembe FC pushing all out for a an equalizer before the end of the first half, a  mix-up with the Nembe FC defense and Goalkeeper resulted in Bekewei Iladei Ebi to slotting the ball pass the on rushing Goalkeeper of Nembe FC to give Ogboinbiri FC  2-0 lead at halftime.


At the resumption of the second half Nembe FC started with more determination as they went in search of a goal to stage a comeback while Ogboinbiri FC tried to protect their 2-0 lead.

Ogboinbiri FC would add to there 2-goal lead in the 55th minutes after the defenders of Nembe FC failed to clear their lines as Paul Bekewei scored to get his second goal of the day and gave his side a 3-0 lead.

With the 3-goal lead Ogboinbiri FC were able to see out the remaining minutes of the game as the side from Southern Ijaw cliched the title for the first time.

Meanwhile earlier in the female category final, NDU Queens FC defeated Peremo Soccer Academy 1-0 courtesy of Osiga Gloria early  strike in the 2nd minute's to hand the university girls there first ever prosperity cup title.
