BAYELSA KIDS CUP AMBASSADOR MEETS PARTICIPATING TEAMS


The opening ceremony of the 7th edition of the Bayelsa Kids Cup witnessed a breathe-taking moment as the kids were filled with awe following the appearance of one of their football idols, the Ambassador of the tournament, Victory Benaingba.

The Bayelsa-born belgium-based talisman visited the B.D.G.S School field, venue of the preliminary round of the competition, to give a pep-talk to the participating teams.
Benaingba who was swept off his feet by the reception from the young lads, urged them to remain focused and maintain discipline, adding that listening to their coaches and abiding by the rules will catapult them to their dreams of playing professional football.

Recounting his trying times as a young player, the Racing Club Genk of Belgium striker reiterated his praises for the Ada Gwegwe led organising committee for their steadfastness on the project, which according to him, has created opportunity for kids to take a shot at nurturing their football career dreams.

The Bayelsa Kids Cup Ambassador concluded by assuring the organisers of his support to see the success of both the 7th edition and subsequent competitions.

Meanwhile the games played today saw Yenagoa playing a one all draw with Ogbia in group A, as Ekeremor defeated Brass three nil in the same group, while in Group B, Southern Ijaw while humbled with a five nil loss to Nembe, as Kolokuma Opokuma were also bashed three nil by Sagbama.

Match day 2 slated for Sunday, 19th, will see Ekeremor tackle Ogbia at 12noon, Sagbama will lock horns with Nembe at 12:45pm, Southern Ijaw will battle Kolokuma/Opokuma at 1:40pm, while Brass tackles Yenagoa at 2:30pm
