Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Deputy Chief of Staff to Deputy Governor, Former Commissioner for Works, Executive Assistant to Governor Diri Endorse Prosperity Cup.


Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament tagged Prosperity Cup is gathering more momentum ahead of the commencement of Season 6 with presentation of branded jerseys to stakeholders.

The latest stakeholders to be presented the 2024 Prosperity Cup branded jerseys by the organizers of the tournament are the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Irorodamie Komonibo, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Hon Gowon Toruyouyei, former Commissioner for Works and commissioner designate ESV Moses Teibowei and Executive Assistant to the Governor, Mrs. Josephine Ketebu.

The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri had earlier received the tournament official jersey and trophies during the weekly Prosperity Walk at the Samson Siasia Stadium before the commencement of the tournament next month.

The stakeholders in separate remarks said they are upbeat that the tournament would continue to bring unity amongst communities in the state.

Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor Hon. Irorodamie Komonibo, who commended the organizers on the progress of the tournament, hailed the governor's unparalleled desire in using sports particularly the Prosperity Cup as a machinery for fighting crime and other social vices.

The commissioner designate ESV Moses Teibowei was presented his jersey during the half time of the novelty match played in his honour to commemorate his scoring the diamond goal in age by members of the Bayelsa All Stars International. The DG Prosperity Cup alluded to the significance of his new age as an hallmark of great fortitude having hit the Senior citizen age with zest and youthfulness.  

In his remarks Teibowei full of gratitude and highly elated at the unique no of 60 on his jersey, noted that he is confident that Season 6 of the tournament would usher more Bayelsa youths to international clubs across the world, stating that the Prosperity Administration has in the last four years given the youths a sense of livelihood through sports.

Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor Hon Gowon Toruyouyei, described the recurrent innovation in the organizers as perfect, saying that the  governor's dream of making Bayelsa a hub of sports was yielding the results with the outstanding outing of athletes in various tournaments both local and international.

Also, Executive Assistant to the Governor Mrs. Josephine Ketebu, lauded the governor and the organizers for introducing the female Prosperity Cup and Para Soccer, noting that the gesture would help to discover more female teams in the state and to consolidate on Bayelsa para festival triumph in the National Para Games festival in Abuja last year.

The delegation was led by the Director General, Mr. Ono K. Akpe. Also in attendance were Mr. Perela Aboro Deputy Director General Operations and Tournament Director, Deacon Zuobomowei Emmanuel Appah, Deputy Director General Corporate Affairs, Mr. Martin Diegbegha, Director Finance and Administration,  Mrs. Chichi Umeseaka, Head of Marketing and Sponsorship and Mr. Micheal Ede-Alakere, the Representative of the Sports Ministry.
