UNIVERSITY OF AFRICA BEGINS INAUGURAL DEPARTMENTAL GAMES
The maiden edition of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua Inter-Departmental Games, will kick off today, Monday, the 18th of March, at the University premises.
The games will see students across the various departments showcasing their personal sporting skills in the next couple of days, for the first time since the institution was established few years ago.
Games lined up include Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton
Scrabble, Chess,
Monopoly, and Table Tennis.
A statement by the University of Africa, Acting Public Relations Officer, Mrs Aforka Faith, said the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Barclays Ayakoroma, will declare the games open at 2:30pm today.
She says the University Community appreciates the Acting Vice Chancellor as well as the leadership of the University for approving the Inter-Departmental Games, adding that the benefits of students engaging in sporting events are enormous.
For today's event, the Female Badminton teams will be the curtain raiser, where
Accounting department will tackle Political Science department, as Mass Communication department takes on Theater Arts department in the next game.
In the Mixed Doubles, Faculty of Basic & Applied Science will face the Faculty of Social & Management Science, while Faculty of Agriculture will tackle Faculty of Arts & Education
In football, Computer Science will take on
Educational Management at 4pm today.
The University of Africa Toru-Orua Inter-Departmental Games which is supported by Hotel Da Crib, is expected to climax on the 25th of March 2024.
