The League Manager of the Nigeria Nationwide League NLO Mr Egbaiyelo Tayo has thrown his weight behind the nation's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup.

Mr Tayo gave the endorsement at the Samson Siasia Stadium shortly after watching the electrifying quarter final fixture in the Prosperity Cup between Dream Boys FC of Odi and Dreams Academy School FC.
Mr Tayo commended the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, the Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Commissioner of Sports and Youth Development Olympian Daniel Igali and the organisers for conceiving the vision to host the showpiece, stressing that the platform would create employment for players and deepen the pool of talent in the state including footballers, coaches, referees, administrators and medical personnel who earn a living through football.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of football  witnessed during the competition, maintaining that the tournament would help to curb crime and criminality among youths in the state.

The Nigeria Football Federation Official, who supervised  the ongoing Under-19 NLO playoff, urged youths in the State to continue to take the tournament seriously, pointing out that a lot of superstars in the world are products of grassroot tournaments.

Meanwhile, Dream Boys FC of Odi have qualified for the semi-final of Nigeria's prestigious grassroot football showpiece, the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament christened the Prosperity Cup.

In the battle of dreams, Dream Boys FC of Odi piped Dreams Academy School FC 7-6 on penalties after a barren draw in regulation time.

Coach Kenneth Opukeme's tutored side who had better chances in the game, on 57 minutes had an opportunity to go ahead from Godday Kingsley's shot but was intelligently blocked by Sagbamaowei Pina.

The Odi based side immediately responded in an exhilarating fashion in a counter attack with Edmund Christopher sending a cross to Wilson Wee who kept Dreams Academy School FC defenders busy in the game fired blank.

However there was celebration in Dream Boys FC Odi camp immediately the centre referee signalled the final whistle, believing in the goalkeeper Johnmark Elegele, whose heroic saves has kept them in the tournament.

The victory means that Dream Boys FC of Odi have now joined Agbere FC in the semi-final who had progressed earlier on Friday. 

On Sunday Odioma United FC of Brass LGA will take on De Grace FC at the Samson Siasia by 3pm . While the last match of the quarter-finals will see Bayelsa United Feeders FC lock horns with Crusaders Feeders FC at the same venue and time.
