Four Women Teams To Participate in First Edition of Bayelsa Governor's Cup

...As Competition Gets Underway This Thursday


Four teams will take part in the inaugural edition of the women's version of the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament.

The four registered women's teams are Peremo Soccer Academy, Niger Delta University, NDU Queens, Golden Sun Sports Club and Crystal Stars FC.

The draws for the women version of the "Prosperity Cup" were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa.

Action begins on Thursday, July 27 with Semi Games.

In the fixtures, Peremo Soccer Academy will battle Crystal Stars FC by 1pm on Thursday as Niger Delta University, NDU Queens slug it out with Golden Sun Sports Club by 3pm also on Thursday.

The losing teams will clash in the Third place play off on Saturday while the Final will hold on Sunday, July 30 same day as the men's Final between De Grace FC of Yenagoa and Crusaders Feeders FC of Peretoru, Ekeremor.

All matches are billed to hold at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

The People of Umuyota Autonomous Community in Umuawa-Alaocha, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA has reacted to a press release purportedly signed by one imposter named Chikamara Metuh. In a press release signed by Mr. Bright Udeh the Youth President of the Umuokarafor Community, the community where both Mr. Adimchinobi Abraham and High Chief Sonny Uwakwe Nlewedim hails from has advised  members of the public to disregard the so-called press release trying to present the emergence of Chief Sonny Nlewedim as the Eze-Elect of Umuyota Autonomous Community in dispute. According to Mr Udeh "I am the youth president of Umuokarafor, who was unanimously elected by the entire youths of Umuokarafor, Mr. Chikamara Metuh, is not a youth president, nor an executive in Umuokarafor or Umuyota".
