Prosperity Cup: Ikolo's Everton Academy FC Coach Upbeat of Winning Tournament.

Everton Academy FC of Ikolo coach, Prosper Dagilo says he is optimistic that his young team will win this year's Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup.
The team nicknamed Evertonians have been the revelation of the competition, winning three games out of three with the latest win against Overcoming Lamb Assembly FC to seal a place in the round of 32 of the Nigeria's biggest grassroots football tournament.
In an interview, Coach Prosper, said his target in the Prosperity Cup is to win the competition despite parading one of the youngest squad in the tournament, pointing out that determination and commitment has shown in their current state of the competition.
He noted that he was building a team that would be a feeders to many clubs in Nigeria and Africa, describing the encounter against Overcoming Lamb Assembly FC as the most difficult side the lads have played against so far.
The Everton Academy gaffer who is also a player in the ongoing competition, explained that the reason behind the formation of the Academy was to take the lads out of the streets and out of engagement in drug abuse, and for them to earn a living through football, saying that the Academy has impacted lives positively since it was founded in 2019.
While appreciating the Almighty God for progressing to the round of 32, the Everton Academy coach thanked the Governor for improving the standard of the competition, especially the prize money and the branded jerseys.
He also hailed the organizers of the Prosperity Cup for the innovation in the tournament as well as the increase in the number of the participating teams from 209 to 214 registered teams.
Similarly, the final preliminary matches for the Nigeria's biggest grassroots football tournament has been concluded at the Opolo centre, as Onopa FC spanked United Stars FC 2-0 while in the other rescheduled game at the Tombia centre De Grace FC secured a passage to the 32 a with 4-2 victory over Okordia FC after a one all draw in regulation time.
Hostilities will resume this weekend in the round of 32 across different centres after a three day match rest.
