Nwfl Super Six: Flourish Sebastian Lone Strike Keeps Bayelsa Queens Title Defense Alive

Flourish Sebastian Lone strike in the 57th of play in the encounter between Bayelsa Queens and FC Robo of Lagos at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State  keeps   Bayelsa Queens chance of defending their title alive in the ongoing Nigerian Women Football League(Nwfl ) Super Six tournament.

FC Robo started on the front foot as they seek to get a win that will put them in contention for the Super Six title and hard better possession in the early stages of the game and where almost rewarded with their early start after a free kick from Esther Oyenezide draw a flying save from Bayelsa Queens goalkeeper, Monle Omini in the 17th minutes.

FC Robo continued to push forward for the early goal as Bayelsa Queens sat back and absorb the pressure while offering little going  forward. Despite Robo's better start they could not get a goal as the first half ended goalless.

Defending Champions, Bayelsa Queens seized the initiative from FC Robo in the second half as they gained control of the possession and push forward for the first goal of the encounter with flourish Sebastian showing some brilliance in attack.

Despite Bayelsa Queens better start in the second half, it was FC Robo who almost broke the deadlock as Esther Oyenezide was put through on goal in the 55th minutes but failed to take her chance with only Bayelsa Queens goalkeeper to beat.

Few minutes later in the 57th minutes, FC Robo were punished for their earlier missed chance as Flourish Sebastian was on hand to score past the on-rushing goalkeeper of FC Robo after a through pass to give the "Prosperity Girls" the lead.

The Lagos based side come out in search of the equalizer but it was Bayelsa Queens who almost doubled her lead through Flourish Sebastian who's shot went just over the bar. Bayelsa Queens controlled the game in the remaining minute's and should have had a second goal courtesy of Etim Edidiong but her attempt went few inches wide of the post in the closing stage of the game.

With the victory, Bayelsa Queens are now level on point with Rivers Angels who won on Tuesday against FC Robo and a victory against their perennial rivals on Friday will see Bayelsa Queens qualify for the super six final. Meanwhile FC Robo has been sent packing from the tournament after two defeats.
