Egbedore United And Osun FA (Osogbo) Reach Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup Final.

Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup: Egbedore United To Face Osun FA (Osogbo) In Final.

Egbedore United will take on Osun FA team (Osogbo) on Sunday in the final game of the 2022/2023 Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup at the Osogbo City Stadium.

Osun FA came from behind in the first Semi-Final on tuesday, to beat a well-spirited Ilesa East FC, who did all they could not to concede by 2-1. Taiwo Afolabi was the star of the game as he netted twice in the second half, to give his side the needed victory, infront of thousands of their fans, after his teammate, Pelumi Oladimeji had scored an own goal, which gave the Ilesa East side an edge in the first forty-five minutes of the encounter.

Osun FA (Osogbo) were initially sluggish infront of goal, as they failed to penetrate the Ilesa East defence early on in the game, until they conceded through an own goal, before they opened up more attacking options towards goal and were rewarded in the 57th and 74th minute of the encounter through their diminutive forward Taiwo Afolabi.

Egbedore United on the other hand were 3-1 better off their semifinal opponent from Ila. Egbedore United scored first through Sheriff Hamzat, after a series of goal misses and went on to double the lead seven minutes after, through Francis Sunday.

Sulaiman Awolowo scored for Ila United in the 54th minute to reduce his team's goal deficit. As they kept on trying to level up, Ayo Olajugba scored late to ensure Egbedore United gets to consecutive final of the Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup.

After losing to the two finalists, Ila United and Ilesa East will face off in the third place encounter on Sunday by 2pm, before the final game, which comes up by 4pm.

The Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup Football Competition was initiated by Honourable Bamidele Salam in the year 2020, to immortalize the selfless, philanthropic services of the first civilian Governor of Osun State, who was a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and an astute Politician when he was alive.

The third edition of the Competition has being expanded to involve selected Football Clubs from the 30 Local Governments in Osun State and the Ife East Area Office.

Adeleke Dynasty FC & Eyiowuawi FC are the past winners of the prestigious Memorial Football Championship
