NUJ Press Week: Sunday Tarabina Emerge Winner Of Draught Event

Sunday Tarabina of Information Chapel has emerged winner in the Draught event of the Indoor Games of the 2022 Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Week.

Tarabina beat another Information Chapel member, Fiezibe Osain 2-1 in a thrilling Final decided at the NUJ Press Center, Yenagoa.

John Odey of United Correspondents Chapel settled for 3rd position after defeating Paul Igonifagha of Creek News Chapel in the losers' final.

Meanwhile, Jacobson Park of People's FM will clash with Priye Roberts of Radio Bayelsa in the Final of the Ludo game event .

To reach the Final which will be decided on Tuesday Morning, Park edged NUJ Chairman, Samuel Numonengi of NTA 2-0 in the semi finals as Roberts spanked Alamene Amaebi of Information Chapel 2-0.

The Ludo event saw 11 participants entering for the competition and another 11 registering for Draught.

The Indoor Games competition continue on Tuesday with Scrabble and Chess taking place.

Already, about 12 entries have been received so far for both the Chess and Scrabble competitions as scores of Journalists throng the NUJ Press Center to follow the events and cheer their colleagues.

Winners in each of the 4 events will smile home with a cash prize of N10,000, Runners up will have N7,000 each while 3rd placed participants will get N5,000 each.

Earlier, Chairman of the State Council of the NUJ, Samuel Numonengi while declaring the Indoor Games open said the competition would enable NUJ members in the State relax their nerves and socialize in order to be mentally and physically fit.

Chairperson of the 2022 NUJ Bayelsa Press Week, Judith Young in her remarks assured that arrangements had been concluded to ensure a hitch free and successful Press Week.

Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Indoor Games and Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Bayelsa, Alambo Datonye Fred in a welcome remark urged participants to abide by the rules of the games and exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship at all times.
