New Media Director Presents Kits to Bayelsa Athletics Association

The Director New Media of the Bayelsa State Government, Doctor Kola Oredipe has donated sporting kits to the Bayelsa Athletics Association.

At the presentation ceremony held at the tartan tracks of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, he said the gesture was borne out of the need to encourage younger athletes in the State to excel in track and fields.

Doctor Oredipe who is the Vice Chairman of the Bayelsa State Athletics Association expressed the hope that the kits would spur the athletes to become world beaters.

He noted that the Governor Douye Diri’s Prosperity Administration has invested in sports development as a vehicle to harnessing the talents of teeming youths of the State.

The Director New Media who thanked the Coaches and officials of the State Athletics Association for grooming the Athletes, charged Team Bayelsa to aspire to outperform their third position finish in the medals table at the last national sports festival in Benin City in the 2022 edition of the Games scheduled for Asaba, Delta State later this year.

Secretary of the Bayelsa State Athletics Association, Tariye Jackson Bidie thanked Doctor Oredipe for donating the sporting equipment, giving an assurance that the athletes would make best use of the kits to improve their performance.

Athletics Coach, Maurice Terimo recalled that Dr. Oredipe made similar donation to Tima Godbless, the teenage track sensation who went ahead to break the National junior women’s one hundred meters record at the World Junior Athletics Championship in Cali, Colombia recently.

Kits presented to the Bayelsa Athletics Association were Spike shoes, training vests and running shots.

The People of Umuyota Autonomous Community in Umuawa-Alaocha, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA has reacted to a press release purportedly signed by one imposter named Chikamara Metuh. In a press release signed by Mr. Bright Udeh the Youth President of the Umuokarafor Community, the community where both Mr. Adimchinobi Abraham and High Chief Sonny Uwakwe Nlewedim hails from has advised  members of the public to disregard the so-called press release trying to present the emergence of Chief Sonny Nlewedim as the Eze-Elect of Umuyota Autonomous Community in dispute.
