Over hundred Golfers Participate In Golf Tournament In Honour of New Rotary Governor

Over hundred golfers from across the country converged on the Henry Seriake Dickson Golf and Country Club in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to take part in the Rotary District 9141 Charity Tournament at the weekend.

The event was part of activities for the investiture of the new Governor of Rotary District 9141, Chief Mightyman Aye-Dikuro, Alabo Itih.

Wife of the governor, Dr. Gloria Diri who performed the ceremonial tee off of the charity tournament thanked all the golfers for coming over to Bayelsa state and wished them all the best and a successful stay in the State.

She also used the opportunity to call on golfers in the country to make use of the golf course in the state, pointing out that it has one of the best facilities in the country.

President of the Ladies Golfers Association of Nigeria, Mrs Juliet Monyei-Inyere said the idea behind the charity tournament was to reach out to the poor and needy through Rotary, urging more youths to take golf as a sport as it is getting popular in the country.

The celebrant of the day and retired permanent Secretary, ministry of Youths and Sport, Bayelsa State who is the new Rotary governor district 9141,Chief Mighty-man Aye Dikuro said Rotary international is the foremost charity organization in the world, hence proceeds from the charity golf tournament would go to the causes that would improve society.

Rotary district 9141 covers Bayelsa, Edo, Rivers and Delta State.
