BDGS Through To Nestle Milo Basketball Championship Final
The Bishop Dimieari Grammar School have made it to the final of the ongoing 22nd Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship in Lagos
B.D.G.S secured the last two spot on Wednesday following a 30-29 points win over King Amachree Academy of Port Harcourt who they lost to a few weeks ago in the final of the Southern Zonal tournament in Enugu
B.D.G.S joined St Jude's Girls Secondary School who made it to the final of the female category on Tuesday, a feat that could see Bayelsa become the first State to win both the male and female team competition in a single season
Speaking after the victory, coach Tony Nelson lauded the emphatic performance of the team, stressing that the team will not relax until the aim is achieved despite making their first ever national appearance in the Nestle Milo Secondary School Championship.
Meanwhile, Coordinator Nigeria School Sport Federation, Bayelsa State, Godwin Abari Adagbo commended the high level of performance both the male and female teams have shown so far in the championship.
Adagbo however, attributed the performance to the motivation the commissioner for Education honourable Gentle Emelah has given to the Team Bayelsa, noting that without the needed approval from the state government it would have been a difficult task for the boys and girls to concentrate.
Our correspondent Promise Okotoko reports that Bishop Dimieari Grammar School will face Government Secondary School, F.C.T Abuja who defeated them in the opening game on Thursday by 12noon while St Jude's Girls Secondary School will tackle Akpur College, Benue on Thursday by 10am.
