Prosperity Cup Technical Committee Begins Pitch Inspection Across Bayelsa.

The technical committee of Nigeria's biggest football tournament, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament, christened the Prosperity Cup, has embarked on pitch inspection tour ahead of commencement of the competition next month. The committee led by the Technical Director, Mr. Diseye Nwankwe, visited Otuasega, Imiringi and the Yenizue-gene/Biogbolo Secondary School pitches to ascertain the level of readiness for the various centers. Over twenty centers have been selected by the Central Organizing Committee (COC) of the tournament to host the season seven of the spectacle which was last won by Ogboinbiri FC of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. More stakeholders in the sports sector in Bayelsa State have hailed the continuous progress and the sustenance of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football tournament christened the Prosperity Cup. The Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup season seven will have three categories in the competition, namely male, female and the para category with 50 Million naira up for grabs for the winners. Samkay, Bayelsa Ministry of Education hold one-day athletics meet in Yenagoa

Over 200 young athletes from more than 25 secondary schools in Bayelsa State are to participate in the forthcoming athletics meet being organised by Samkay Athletics Club in Yenagoa. The One-Day athletics meet in collaboration with the Bayelsa state Ministry of Education and the Bayelsa State Athletics Association will hold at the main bowl of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Ovom on Monday, 27th January, 2025 by 8am. Bayelsa State Football Association Sponsors Four Coaches to NIS.

The Bayelsa State Football Association has sent four promising grassroots coaches to the  National Institute of Sports (NIS) Lagos for coaching courses in National Diploma. The state football  body in a statement signed by its secretary, Diseye Nwankwe, said the idea of sending the coaches to the National Institute of Sports was for young Bayelsa coaches to compete favourably with their peers within and outside the state. According to him, the association is committed to enabling grassroots football coaches in the state acquire the basic certificate in coaching as well as equipping them with modern coaching techniques and in order to impact skills in their respective teams during tournaments. The statement explains that the four coaches are Donbai Emmanuel of Donbai United Football Academy, Edike Dift of Dream Boys Football Academy, Freeborn Mere Hope Alive FC Otuoke and Ugbana Wole Isaac FC Silina. The Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament christened the "Prosperity Cup", season six may have come and gone but the sweet memories of champions Ogboinbiri FC of Southern Ijaw Local Government Areas is still fresh in the minds of football enthusiasts across the nation. The tournament, which started with 106 teams in 2015, then called Restoration Cup, has today become Nigeria's  biggest grassroots soccer competition, with over 200 teams. The organizers of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football tournament, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament (also known as the "Prosperity Cup"), have announced that season seven will kick off in February 2025 across the state. According to a statement signed by the Director-General of the tournament, Mr. Ono Akpe, and the Tournament Director, Mr. Perela Aboroson, the sale of registration forms will commence on January 6, 2025, at the Prosperity Cup Secretariat, Ministry of Sports Development. The registration fee for the male category is ₦25,000, while the female category is ₦15,000.
