NTTF South South Rep Attributes Lack of Facilities as Reason Behind Table Tennis Slow Progress.

The South South zonal representative in the board of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, Mr. Ama-ebi Ebikpolade Stow has attributed lack of facilities as the reason behind the slow progress of Table Tennis in the zone. Mr. Ebikpolade made this known during a live interaction with "Sport Tribe Podcast" at the newly constructed Fortress at Oxbow-Lake in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. He said when he assumed office as chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association that he and his vice chairman, Mr. Ranani Igrubia sat and identified key areas of improvement and realized that lack of facility was a major problem bedeviling table tennis in the state. According to him, the only state in Nigeria that can boast of table tennis facilities was Lagos and Cross River in the South South, stating that table tennis previously was played in NTTF unapproved floor, and that the narrative changed. African Champion Esther Kolawole wins medal at U23 World Wrestling Championships in Albania

Reigning African champion Esther Kolawole has secured a bronze medal in the 62kg weight class at the 2024 u23 World Wrestling Championships in Tirana, Albania.  Kolawole in the 16th round, lost to USA Macey Kilty 3-3 on criteria.  However, the 2024 Paris Olympian in a Repachage match, defeated Tynys Dubek of Kazakhstan by a 10-0 superiority score, having beaten Venezuela's Astrid Montero with same scoreline 10-0. Undeterred, Esther Kolawole secured the bronze medal with an emphatic 10-0 superiority win over Viktoria Vesso of Estonia. Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Commences Renovation of Hall

The Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association has commenced renovation of its hall at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa. Renovation work commenced on Monday and it is expected to last for a period of two to three weeks as athletes continue preparation ahead of the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State next year. The work ravamping of the facility is sponsored by the chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association, Mr. Ama-ebi Ebikpolade Stow who doubles as the zonal representative in the board of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, NTTF.  Addressing newsmen, Mr. Ebikpolade said scope of the work will witness padding of the wall with finished wood that would help to address the recurring issue of wall stain which has continued to necessitate painting. In a tense and highly congested match saw Bayelsa United miss early chances from debutant, Foluwa Akpokabowei while Heartland Goalkeeper also made a good save in the early minute's  to deny Obed Junior from giving the prosperity boys the lead. Bayelsa United will this weekend at the Samson Siasia stadium, Yenagoa take on Plateau United in a matchday six of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL. The Prosperity Boys will be aiming to earn their first victory in the ongoing NPFL campaign having secured a point last weekend against Nasarawa United at the Lafia Township Stadium. Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Set to Renovate Hall

***Concludes Plans for National Sports Festival Camping*** The Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association has concluded plans to renovate the table tennis hall within the Samson Siasia Sports complex in Yenagoa, the state capital. This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the association Mr. Ama-ebi Ebikpolade ahead of the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta Ogun State next year. According to the statement, the renovation will span a minimum of two weeks alongside several upgrades to enhance the hall's utility, compliance with international standard, and overall functionality for athletes usage. Mayor Ikeji Distributes Fertilizer to Farmers Within the Council
