SAVE OBOGORO COMMUNITY FROM EROSION!

AS GROUP EXPRESSES DISPLEASURE OVER EROSION PROJECT, CALLS FOR REVEW OF CONTRACT

The Save Obogoro Community From Erosion Group  have expressed their displeasure over the manner at which  Niger Green Dredging International Ltd have handled the on-going Erosion Project in Obogoro Community.


Speaking to News men in Yenagoa the convener of the group Mr. Ada Gwegwe said the Shoreline Protection Project in Obogoro Community has so far been handled like a child's play by the Contractor handling the project. 

"We are not pleased with the level of  job done so far by the company and we are going to express our displeasure against Niger Green Dredging International Ltd through a peaceful protest and and we will officially write to His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri to review or revoke the contract from the present contractor".
"The Bayelsa State Government have so far released more than the Sum of One Billion Naira to the contractor, and yet the community is not safe.  Property worth millions of Naira has been washed away by the Erosion and as we speak to you more buildings will be eroded away in the coming days making residents packing out of the home" he added.


Also speaking the co-ordinator of the group Comr. Mike Kpekpere who is also a victim of devastating effect of the erosion, and have so far lost his 5 bedroom flat. He said that it is a sad that the contractor of the project despite recieving huge amount of money from the State Government have failed to deliver on the job that he was contrated to do.
"How will the contractor who has received this huge amount of money from the State Government and yet you cannot see any meaningful job done so far in the site"?


"We have been puting pressure on the State Government all these years for the completion of this project and we can't fold our hands and look at the contractor not doing enough to stop the ravaging erosion after receiving over One Billion Naira yet nothing to show for it". 

The Save Ogbogoro Community from Erosion Group are set to take to the streets for a peaceful protest on how the contractors are handling the project.
