Queen Josephine Diete-Spiff Female Soccer Cup Competition for Secondary Schools in Bayelsa State Set to Kick Off.

Secondary School girls hoping to pursue a career in football in Bayelsa State now have an opportunity to realize their aspirations.

This is because the maiden Queen Josephine Diete-Spiff Female Soccer Cup Competition for Secondary School Students in Bayelsa State is set to come on stream.

The tournament, which is sponsored by Wife of the Amanyanabo of Twon-Brass and First Military Governor of the Old Rivers State, Queen Josephine Diete Spiff, is scheduled to get underway on November 17 this year.

Chairperson, Organising Committee  of the competition and President of the Character Moulding Foundation, Colony Christian Kokoriko gave the hint during an advocacy visit to the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Sports Writers, Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Mr. Datonye Fred Alambo in his office in Yenagoa.

Colony Kokoriko said the tournament is aimed at encouraging girls in secondary school to take active part in sports, engage them in meaningful ventures, provide an avenue for self discovery, create opportunities for economic empowerment and promote the spirit of sportsmanship.

In a remark, Chairman of SWAN Bayelsa, Mr. Datonye Fred Alambo pointed out that it was imperative for society to create a level playing ground for all genders including sports for boys and girls to be treated equally.

Mr. Alambo gave an assurance that SWAN and Sports Journalists would continue to promote women in sports just as they do with the men folk.

The opening match  in the Queen Josephine Diete-Spiff Female Soccer Cup Competition among Secondary Schools in Bayelsa State is between Comprehensive Community Secondary School Biogbolo and Community Secondary School, Azikoro scheduled for the Yenezuegene Field, Yenagoa by 4pm on November 17th.
