Sir Wodi gave the advice at the 2022 International University Sports Day at the Samson Siasia Stadium Yenagoa. The Director said sports has gone beyond recreation but money spinning were people earn a leaving from it, calling on students to imbibe the culture of sports as a veritable tool in eradicating social vices in society. While applauding the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO for initiating the day, he noted the day has further created an awareness on the importance of sports to human. Secretary of the Bayelsa Cricket Association, Kenneth Richard told Sports Journalists in an interview that the cricket event would feature about 150 students from secondary schools selected across the State. Kenneth Richard appreciated the President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Mr. Uyi Akpata for the initiative and presenting starter packs to beginners as well as for the tremendous support.
