The organizers of the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament tagged 'Prosperity Cup' have commended the State Government for sponsoring the country's biggest grassroots football tournament. They also commended the state governor for graciously  approving a youth team to compete in the Africa Youth Cup holding in Cape Verde later this year. FIFA Women Football Convention: Aisha Falode Advances The Need To Place Primacy On Diverse Leadership In Football.  Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Board Member and Head of Women's Football Committee, Aisha Falode took part in the 2023 edition of the FIFA Women's Football Convention, which took place at the International Convention Centre, Sydney on Saturday. Table Tennis: Sholanke Emerges New Bayelsa Champions.

Azeez Sholanke have emerged  Bayelsa State Table Tennis number one ranked player after the association's ranking series in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital. Sholanke beat captain and Nigeria number eight Samuel Boboye 3-1 to dethrone Boboye who had earlier beaten Etim Orok to set up Azeez and Boboye clash. Azeez Sholanke's victory means that Sholanke is the highest ranked player in the State according to a ranking release by the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association on Thursday at the Samson Siasia Stadium multipurpose hall. Boboye now dropped to second on pecking order following the defeat, Matthew John on third while Etim Orok who won gold at the Alabi memorial table tennis championship finished 4th, Oweifa Nurudeen Sholanke on 5th. Bayelsa State Table Tennis Chairman Confident Of Good Outing in Youth Games

South South Zonal Representative in the Board of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation and chairman Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Ama-Ebi Ebikpolade has expressed readiness ahead of the 7th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State. Ebikpolade in an interview, said the lads are fully prepared for the Games slated from 7th to 17th of September, 2023, stating that preparation had already started before the announcement of the games. Despite not having the regular Samuel Boboye, Azeez Solonke and Etim Orok the Bayelsa State table tennis chairman, believes that the team is strong enough to stun Nigeria in the Youth version of National Sports Festival. NYG 2023: Team Bayelsa Secures Qualification in Six Team Sports of Ahead Youth Games.

               Team Bayelsa on Sunday qualified in six team sports ahead of the National Youth Games NYG in Asaba, Delta State after days of the zonal elimination in Calabar, Cross Rivers State. Team Bayelsa departed Yenagoa for Calabar on Friday with about 230 contingents comprising athletes, coaches and officials to compete in eight sports which include Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Softball/Baseball, Rugby, Hockey and Beach Volleyball in both male and female. The qualified sports are Volleyball Female, Basketball female, Softball, Handball, Football both male and female, Rugby female, Basketball female while male failed to qualify and Hockey male and female secured qualification to the fiesta in Asaba. Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Thursday in Osogbo, received a member of the victorious D'Tigress Squad to the recently concluded 2023 FIBA Afrobasketball Championship in Kigali, Adenike Olawuyi.  Olawuyi, who is an Osogbo born Basketball player, plys her trade for Hungarian Basketball team, Ratgeber and played a pivotal role in the Nigeria Women's Basketball team success in winning their fourth straight FIBA Afrobasketball Championship.
