The Awcon 2022 is well and truly underway and the game that everyone is talking about is certainly the match between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Bayana Bayana of South Africa in group C.
The nine-time champions will be hoping to have their revenge when they play South Africa later today (Monday)
In the last meeting between both sides, Banyana Banyana made a statement to the Super Falcons of Nigeria by defeating them in the finals of the maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari invitational tournament last year in Lagos.
Also the South African ladies have proven to the super falcons of Nigeria that they are not push overs, in the last edition of the Awcon in Ghana in 2018, the South African ladies defeated the super falcons in the group stage before loosing the finals to the super falcons in a penalty shoot out.
South Africa is tipped to be the team that will stop the Super Falcons from winning a record 10th awcon trophy in Morocco.
There is no doubt that Monday’s (Today) opener will go a long way to determine who will finish top of the group which also have Burundi and Botswana.
Meanwhile in matchday two of the ongoing Awcon in group A on Sunday, Senegal defeated Uganda 2-0. Ndeye Diakhate got the first goal in the 39th minutes while Nguena scored the second goal in the 50th minutes.
In the second game of the day in group B, Cameroon and Zambia played out a barren draw while in the last match of the day Tunisia defeated debutant Togo 4-1.
Mariem Houij scored in the first minutes while Sarbrine Ellouzi scored twice in the 12th and 60th minutes of play. Gnintegma scored from the spot for Togo in the 22nd minutes as it turned out to be only a consolation.
