Anyama Fc, EGM Fc Secure Prosperity Cup Semi Final Ticket

High flying Anyama Fc of Ogbia and Eternal Grace Ministry EGM Fc of Yenagoa are through to the semi final of Nigeria's biggest grassroots tournament the Bayelsa State Governor's Cup tagged the Prosperity Cup.
Anyama Fc beat Agbayama Fc of Ekeremor by 2-1 in an encounter that was watched by the king and chiefs of Anyama Fc community as well as other stakeholders in Ogbia kingdom at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
Anyama Fc took the lead on 21 minute from Gift Agala's header from a well taken freekick from their talisman Young Ataria cross to send jubilant Anyama Fc fans to celebration.
The Ogbia side kept hopes of winning the Prosperity Cup as they doubled the lead on 30 minute from Eluantein Gogo strike to compound woes of the Ekeremor side.
When it seems it was going to end 2-0 at halftime Monday Rogua reduced the deficit for Agbayama Fc on 41 minute, however Agbayama Fc would have leveled the scoreline but the centre referee Anderson Feleha ruled out a possible penalty for Agbayama Fc to abbreviate their prosperity cup participation.
Earlier in the day one of tournament favorites EGM Fc of Yenagoa ended Okoroma-Tereke Fc participation in the tournament with a 2-0 spanking of the Nembe based side.
Action will return on Tuesday 12 July at the Samson Siasia Stadium when Makeme Fekete's tutored side Peretorugbene United of Ekeremor face the seasiders Odioma FC of Brass by 1pm while Amassoma FC of Southern Ijaw entertains Agbere of Sagbama by 3pm.
In a post match interview, head coach of Anyama Fc Ebipado Appah said his team won the game because they capitalized on their areas of strength describing Agbayama Fc as a good side.
He noted that the rain did not affect his team's pattern of football because they are used to wet turf,stating that they are now focused on the semi final.
Despite the defeat team coordinator of Agbayama Fc Moses Akeme said his team were the better side but pointed out that the defeat was as a result of the rain.
Also, the Obenema of Anyama community HRH King Sopana Agala Amakiri asserted that he was pleased with the outcome of the encounter despite the slim margin, stressing that Anyama Fc came prepared in this years Bayelsa State Governor's Cup.
King Amakiri added that he was optimistic that the rugged and determined Anyama team would return home with the trophy at the end of the showpiece.
He equally appreciated the governor senator Douye Diri and his deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and the commissioner for Youths and Sports Development Hon Daniel Igali for making the tournament possible saying that it has given the needed support for youths to excel.
