‎Prosperity Cup Organizers to Commence Sale of Registration Forms

Prize Money Increased to N30m in Celebration of 30th Anniversary of Bayelsa  Organizers of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football tournament, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup, say they have concluded plans for the sale of registration forms for Season eight of the competition. ‎ ‎Director General of the tournament, Mr. Ono Akpe in a statement on behalf of the Central Organizing Committee, COC, noted that this year's edition would witness some innovations.  ‎ ‎According to him, the sale of registration forms will commence from the 1st of December through the 15th of January, 2026 while the tournament will kick-off on the 13th of February, 2026 as part of the activities to celebrate the governor's sixth year in office.  ‎ ‎The statement noted that Season Eight would be a special edition to celebrate the 30 years anniversary of Bayelsa State with a special commemorative trophy, which has been specially des...

SWAN WEEK 2025: ORGANISERS REEL OUT ACTIVITIES

The Local Organising Committee for the 2025 edition of the Bayelsa State  chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Week, has outlined its programme of activities. A statement by Chairman of the committee, Loveday Herbert says the program will begin on Monday, 1st December with a road walk from Ekeki junction and will terminate at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, and will be wrapped up with a thorough but exciting work out and aerobic session. It says on Tuesday, December 2, will be the commencement of the Clinton Thompson Football  competition among registered media houses. On Wednesday, December 3rd, Table Tennis will begin at the Coastal Fortress, Ox Bow Lake, while Draught and other indoor games will hold at the NUJ Press centre. Time is 2pm. The stage is set for a thrilling display of sportsmanship and academic excellence as three universities from Bayelsa State prepare to make their mark at the 27th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) games, holding in Jos, Plateau State. Niger Delta University (NDU), University of Africa (UAT) Toru-Orua, and Bayelsa Medical University (BMU) will represent Bayelsa State at the games.
