Prosperity Cup 2025: Bayelsa FA, Fed University Otuoke Advance,as CBN, NYSC Bow Out

Bayelsa Football Academy opened their season seven account of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup with a hard fought 3-2 victory over Igbogene FC. It was barely a minute into the tension soaked encounter before Geoffrey put Igbogene FC in front and also recording the tournament's fastest goal. Blessing Igoni responded almost immediately as he skillfully meandered his way past the Igbogene FC defence to level terms at the Ogboloma centre.  Igbogene FC made it two-one on 10 minutes through Ezekiel Henry's finish. Doubara Newman restored parity for Bayelsa FA from a spot kick on 31 minutes to end proceedings at two-all at half time. Gloria Diri Foundation Unveils Two Athletes Ahead of Niger Delta Sports Festival

The Bayelsa State Canoeing Association has concluded final trials for the forthcoming Niger Delta Sports Festival slated from 1st through the 9th of April, 2025 in Uyo the Akwa Ibom State capital. The final trial held at the Peace park in Yenagoa had five male and four female who have qualified for the Niger Delta Sports Festival slated for next month. The qualified athletes are Goodluck Kingsley, Education Timbiri, Igole Ebimobowei, Sinivie Alfred, Goodluck Independent while the athletes include; Tubolayefa Sawyer, Esther Beke, Vivian Timbiri and Margaret Alaowei. Two canoeing athletes that qualified for the festival in Uyo, a male and female are Tubolayefa Sawyer female and Goodluck Kingsley male are products of the Gloria Diri Foundation, GDF a foremost foundation in the state that is investing hugely in sports development. Season seven of Nigeria's most glamorous grassroots soccer showpiece, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament, also known as the Prosperity Cup continue to hit the headlines with mouth watering matches at different venues across Bayelsa State. Playing at the Biogbolo/Yenizue-gene Centre in Yenagoa, Sterling Bank FC recorded a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Santon FC, after a nil -nil score line in regulation time. The second game at the same venue was also decided from the penalty spot, with FC Silina emerging FC 4-3 winners over Victory FC, after a two-all draw in normal time. In Tombia, Eleven Planet FC edged out Golden Sun Sports FC by three goals to two to qualify for the next round of the tournament while Advance Dreams FA completely annihilated God's Promise FC to announce their intention to go very far with an Eleven goals to one demolition of their opponents. Prosperity Cup Tournament's highest scoring team Agbere FC on Sunday, March 23, 2025, faced it's biggest test yet in the tournament when Akeddei FC put up spirited fight holding them to one allp stalemate in regulation time. Playing at the Sagbama Town Centre, the season five bronze medalists had to dig deep to win the resultant spot kicks 5-3 to advance. Pedimo Ebimos put Akeddei FC ahead at just two minutes into the game from a beautiful finish but Agbere FC responded on 43 minutes from Anny Godfrey's brilliant effort to stretch the encounter into penalties having scored fifteen goals in their last two games.  And, at the Ebedebiri venue, Indomitable FC pipped Angalabiri FC by a slim lone goal to secure passage to the next phase of the tournament. Prosperity Cup 2025: NUJ/SWAN Crash out, as Adaka Boro, Sampou Progress

  Team NUJ/SWAN narrowly missed out on progression into the next stage of the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament ‘Prosperity Cup’ after a narrow one-nil defeat in hands of their younger Odi United opponents at the Sabagriea Centre in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area. A goal by Achimota Ebiladou Godspower on 56 minutes was all that ended Team NUJ/SWAN campaign in what was arguably a the keenly contested game.  The NUJ/SWAN Team missed two clear opportunities to draw level, but we're denied by good goalkeeping when  substitute John Angese headed from close range off a corner kick in the closing stages of the tension-soaked encounter. Agbere FC produced another domineering performance on Matchday two, at the Sagbama centre in Sagbama LGA of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament with a four nil whitewash of Ebedebiri FC. The victory takes Agbere FC's goal tally to 15 in two matches  keep their aspirations of winning the trophy slive. Johnny Ebiakpo put the Agbere side ahead on 63 minutes after a goalless first half, Godfrey Annu doubled the lead on 69 minutes with a beautiful finish from close range. Water Strikers FC continued their impressive performance in the season seven of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football fiesta, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup at the Twon Brass Centre. Water Strikers FC humbled Kurotee FC three nil to advance to the next round of the tournament. Agbere FC of Sagbama Local Government Area on Sunday recorded what has gone down as the highest number of goals scored by a team in the history of the prosperity cup. Agbere FC were so ruthless in their 11-1 demolition of Idialu FC of Toru Orua. The 2023 semi finalists produced what arguably ranks as season seven's best performance to keep alive their aspirations of winning the competition for the first time. Lucky Baratuapre scored the first hattrick of season seven of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football showpiece, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup. Playing at the Twon Brass centre in Brass Local Government Area on Wednesday, Baratuapre's hattrick helped Water Strikers FC to whitewash New Strikers 6-0, thereby also sending a clear signal of intent to all the participating teams. Sangana FC have moved into the next phase of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football fiesta, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament christened the "Prosperity Cup". In a keenly contested encounter at the Sangana center in Brass Local Government Area, Sangana FC beat Mini City FC 2-1 to secure a place in the next round of the competition.  Kingsley Inuwei drew first blood for the determined Sangana side on 42 minutes, to take put them 1-nil ahead into the half time break. Preliminary round matches in season seven of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament christened the Prosperity Cup got off to a flying start in Brass and Nembe local government areas over the weekend. Playing at the Nembe City stadium on Sunday, Nembe FC outclassed Fantuo FC by 2 goals to -nil to qualify for the next round of the competition. Goals from Jackson Idubamo and Clement Bruno in each half was all the Nembe side needed to oust Fantuo FC. Earlier at the same venue, Okoroba FC triumphed over Etie FC 7-6 on penalities after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. The exercise, which is in its 3rd edition, is in collaboration with Nigerian Football Federation and the Bayelsa State Football Association and is aimed at preparing local coaches ahead of the season seven edition of the Prosperity Cup. The Organizers of Nigeria's largest and most prestigious grassroots football showpiece, the prosperity cup in Bayelsa State are putting a week coaching clinic together to update and sharpen the technical abilities of coaches participating in this year's edition of the competition. The coaching clinic, which will be conducted by seasoned football experts begins on Monday, 3rd to 7th of March, 2025 at the NUJ Press Centre, Ekeki, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. Disclosing this to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Director General of the Prosperity cup Central Organizing Committee, Mr.Ono Akpe explained that the event, which is the first of two coaching clinics that will hold in course of this year's football fiesta, will have fifty coaches in attendance.
