Oshoala, Falode Advocate For Increased Investment In Nigerian Women’s Football

Super Falcons Forward, Asisat Oshoala, and a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aisha Falode, have urged stakeholders in the private and public sectors to invest more in Nigeria’s women football in order to accelerate its development. The reigning African Football Queen and the former CAF Media Committee Member  made this call during the final of the eighth Football4Girls tournament, organised annually by the former Arsenal Ladies Star.  “Women's football is getting better every year; the awareness is there. So, it will be awesome for my teammates, friends and everyone who would love to invest in football to look at the women’s side as well. Director-General of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football tournament, the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament christened the Prosperity Cup, Mr.  Onoriode Kevin Akpe  has extended his warm greetings and heartfelt wishes to the good people of Bayelsa as the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. By Hananeel Jackson   Team Bayelsa has again emerged as the champions of 2nd National Para Games in Abuja the Nigeria capital after eight days of competition across the different centers. Team Bayelsa led by Director of Sports Bayelsa State Sports Council Sir Braveman Wodi arrived with about 250 contingents in eleven sports which include para swimming, Para canoeing, Para powerlifting, Para Karate,Para taekwondo. The other sports are Para wheelchair tennis,para table tennis, para badminton, para cycling, para athletics and Para Shooting for the eight day event at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.  Bayelsa State won the maiden edition scooping 93 medals comprising 31 gold, 30 silver and 32 bronze to win the Nigerian version of the Paralympics games. The Chairperson of the Women Football Committee and a Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ms Aisha Falode, has congratulated the six-time CAF Women Footballer of the Year, Nigeria's Asisat Oshoala who on Monday, in Marakesh, Morocco, was voted as the best female player in Africa, for an unprecedented six times. Falode, said Tuesday  in Lagos that Oshoala's sixth  straight CAF Women Footballer Award affirmed that Nigeria remains the best in women's football in Africa She noted that, Nigeria's victory as the Women's National Team of the Year further confirmed this claim. The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Bayelsa Chapter, on Thursday constituted a four-man Electoral Committee, SWANECO with a charge to ensure  peaceful election next year. The Eleco was formed during its congress held at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre in Yenagoa on Thursday. The four-man elective committee has Tommie Amaegbe of Rhythm FM 94.7 as  Chairman, Okioma Aherhoke of Daily Times as member, Timinepre Ohia of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as member, while Patrick Ndubuisi of DAAR Communications Plc (Raypower/AIT) will serve as Secretary.
