Women's Prosperity Cup: Defending Champions Crash Out, As Kpansia Venue Takes Centre Stage Prosperity Cup Women's defending Champions, Niger Delta University Queens have been ousted from Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor's Football showpiece .In a keenly contested match at the BDGS battle ground, high-scoring Ezuogha Queens defeated defending champions, NDU Queens by a lone goal to progress to the next round of the competition.Ezougha, which had put up a ruthless performance in their opening fixture scoring eight goals against Diamond Stars, had to dig deep to find the back of their opponents net in the 67th minute through Numulayefa Princess.In the second match of the day at the same venue, Stardom Life Sports Academy of Ogboloma pipped Seaside Academy of Ovom by a lone goal. Paul Favour's goal on 37 minutes was all the Ogboloma-based team needed to advance to the next round of the tournament. The Kpansia arena will take centre stage on Wednesday, when Jerry Queens FC of Ogbia confront Afini Ladies of Yenagoa at 3.00p.m., while Crystal Stars will keep a date with Global Queens by 4.30p.m.Action continues on Thursday at the same venue with Akeddei Queens from Sagbama LGA taking on Bayelsa State College of Nursing Sciences, BYSCON Queens by 3.00p.m. while Niger Delta Queens trade hard tackles with Golden Sun Sports Club of Yenagoa at 4.30p.m. Speaking Tuesday's game, victorious coach of Stardom Life Sports Academy, Inemotimi Kofi, said both sides gave their best, pointing out that his team would have done better if not for some players who missed the match because of examination commitments.According to him, he knew the game was going to be tough for his team, stating that they have been in close camping preparing for the competition, which gave his team a slight advantage.He, however, expressed the hope that his full squad will be available for their next tie.Also speaking , head coach of Seaside Academy, Awusa Anthony, said in addition to the cheap goal his players conceded which demoralized them, his team's wastefulness in front of goal was one of their greatest undoing. He said they would go back to the drawing board, correct their mistakes and come back stronger next season.

Bayelsa Stars Queens of Yenagoa and Flying Stars Queens have booked their places in the next round of the women's version of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup. In the encounters decided at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, BDGS centre on Monday, Bayelsa Stars Queens pipped God's Mercy City FC one nil, while Flying Stars Queens beat Orukaribai Queens 6-5 on penalties after a barren draw in regulation time to secure their places in the next round of the tournament. Striker Ogiligi Annette's lone goal on 52 minutes was all that separated Bayelsa Stars Queens from God's Mercy City FC. Action begins on Thursday, April 24, 2025 in the women's version of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football showpiece, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup.  Chairman of the women's tournament committee, Mr. Ebi Avi says the opening fixture of the spectacle will see Federal University Otuoke go up against God's Mercy City by 3.00p.m. at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa. According to him, Diamond Stars will battle Ezuogha Soccer Academy at the same venue by 4.30p.m, pointing out that the duration of each match would be sixty minutes, at thirty minutes each half. He disclosed that straight penalty kicks will be used to determine the winners, in the case of a draw at full time, stressing that participating teams and officials are expected to report at match venues one hour before kick-off. The stage is now set for the kick off of the Female version of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football fiesta, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament christened the Prosperity Cup, with Twenty seven teams vying for the ten million naira prize money at stake. In the draws which was performed by Governor Douye Diri immediately after the weekly Prosperity walk at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Thursday, April 17, 2025, Niger Delta University Queens will begin the defence of their trophy at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, BDGS with an encounter against the winner of the tie between Diamond Stars FC and Stardom Life. The stage is now set for the round of 32 battles of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup. In the draws released on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 by the Technical Director, Mr. Diseye Nwankwe, former champions, Krusaders FC of Peretorugbene will go up against Mountain of Fire Ministry, MFM FC of Okaka at the Otuasega Township Stadium. The organizers of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football fiesta, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup have fixed Thursday, April 17, 2025 for the draws of the women's version of the tournament.  This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the female tournament committee, Mr Ebi Avi, ahead of Thursday draws at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa. Local government finalists have emerged in Yenagoa and Ogbia Local Government Areas in Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup.  Ogbia LGA defending champions, Movers FC of Otuasega will battle high scoring Citiboi FC to decide in the 2025 champions of Ogbia Local Government Area. In the first semi final match at the Imiringi venue, Movers FC humbled Federal University, Otuoke FC by three goals to one to qualify for the final, while Citiboi FC were so ruthless in overwhelming Ayalla FC five nil to advance to the LGA championship game. Pere Richard put Citiboi ahead on 21 minutes from a well coordinated offensive play to end the first stanza at one nil. At the end of the event on Monday, Bayelsa amassed a total of eighty nine medals, comprising forty two gold, twenty nine silver, and fifteen gold medals, to finish top of the table, with Delta in second position with forty one gold, twenty six silver and thirty two bronze medals, followed by Edo, Rivers, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Imo and Cross River State. Church of God mission FC (CGM FC) came into the spotlight after beating the highly-rated Bayelsa FA on Tuesday in the penultimate round of the Prosperity Cup at the Ogboloma centre. It was a spectacular game, with exemplary display of resilience and determination from the CGM players, a team whose story began long before this star moment.   Founded in 2015, the Igbogene based-team has shelved a few trophies in their cabinet, most notably the Mbiama Peace Cup (2019) and most recently, the Bayelsa Church Tournament (2022). Their most impressive run in the prosperity cup occured in the 2022 edition when they made it to the round of 16 for the first time in their history. One-time champions, Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC came from a goal down in a keenly contested encounter to beat Biseni United at the Ogboloma centre of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup.   It was barely five minutes when Akpagra Tony put Biseni United in front from a well connected pass to give Biseni United the lead.
