Bayelsa United Overcome Stubborn Doma, Extends Unbeaten Record to Five Games.

A goal in each half from Ekeson Okorie on 45 minute and 65 minute gave host Bayelsa United a 2-0 victory over stubborn Doma United of Gombe in Matchday 22 fixtures of Nigeria Premier Football League decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium. Okorie put the Prosperity Boys ahead on few minutes to the end of the first half from a spot when Auwala Abubakar brought down the enterprising Ekeson Okorie in the danger zone as he stepped forward to send Doma United goaltender Abdullah Zalli who had earlier made important saves for the Savannah Tigers the wrong way. NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi Lauds Eagles Performance At AFCON.

Nigeria Women Under 17 National team Head Coach (Flamingos), Bankole Olowookere has been recognized for his contribution to the development of the girl child through football, by the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) on Friday.   The National student body noted that the recognition was bestowed on him because of his various achievements, consistency and contributions to Women's football in Nigeria and beyond. *******As over Fifty Students Will take Part In The Inaugural Teen Category  By Francis Joseph The fourth edition of the Bayelsa City Marathon tagged "SDD Marathon" is set to take center stage this weekend on Saturday, 10th February, 2024 according to the organizers of the marathon. In an interactive session with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Bayelsa State chapter at NUJ Press Center in Yenagoa, the Initiator Mr Igbeta Odonkumo said the fourth edition will feature Elite and Teen Category. Mr Igbeta stated that over 250 marathoners are expected to take part in the elite category while the teen category will feature 50 secondary schools in Bayelsa State with the participating school athletes set to go home with school bags courtesy of the Mrs Gloria Diri Foundation.  The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi clarified the issues surrounding the match bonuses of the Nigerian national team players after their victory over Angola in the ongoing 2023 AFCON in Cote d'Ivoire. Dr. Sanusi began by expressing gratitude to the federal government of Nigeria for their unprecedented support. He commended the government for not only approving funds for competitions but also clearing some of the backlogs, not just for the Super Eagles, but for other Nigerian national teams as well. He continued by acknowledging the efforts of the Minister of Sports in ensuring the timely release of funds.
